+Dirt, dust and other foreign materials can also have an affect on the performance and the life of computer equipment.  Dirt and dust level concentrations increase closer to the floor as they settle. Most of the computer equipment owned by PDG is intended for desktop use. The preferred location for these types of computers will be on a table or desk top. If for some reason the IT Department determines that this location is not feasible, these types of machines will be placed a minimum of 10" to 12" from the floor.  All  computer  equipment  will  be  placed  only  on  sufficient,  stable  surfaces  to  properly  support  the equipment.

+Food, drink and such should be kept a sufficient distance away from computers, monitors, keyboards, and mice so as not to permit damage to this equipment.  Handling sticky foods or other materials and then touching a keyboard, mouse or digitizer transfers materials to these surfaces. Over time, buildups occur that causes unsightly equipment or equipment that may fail to perform  properly.    All users of PDG computer equipment are expected to use good judgment in the use of this equipment.

+//**In the event that any liquid is spilled on a piece of equipment, the first action should be to power off the equipment, even if data loss is a result.  Any spillage of liquids on
+keyboards  or  other  computer  equipment  should  be  reported  immediately  to  the  IT Department.**//
 +
+Proper cleaning materials are provided by PDG for use in cleaning monitors.  Water, window cleaners or dusting sprays are not to be used.  Dusting cloths that may build up a static charge are not to be used.  Compressed air is the best method for cleaning debris from keyboards.  The IT Department maintains a supply of these materials.
